The bluevista metaverse: the blueverse

So at Bluevista we took an interest in what this new technology makes possible. Platforms have appeared that add, to the building of 3D scenes on the web, an interface letting visitors share the same virtual “room” and interact with each other.

The system allows many social uses and creates a space to play in. It is open to everyone, from anywhere on the planet. Being able to build your own 3D world multiplies what is possible and lets you express your creativity without any of the limits of the physical world.

Having an avatar — a virtual character you control — makes interaction with other people possible. That creates a sense of closeness, and lowers the barriers people feel behind a screen.

Interaction uses the classic videoconferencing tools — chat, microphone, webcam and screen sharing. It also comes from being able to move through a shared 3D space, drop 3D objects or notes into it, gesture with your avatar, or interact with the environment itself.

That let us imagine plenty of uses: a showroom, a museum, a trade show, a classroom, a games room, a concert hall, a function room…

So we decided to build our own virtual stand, presenting our different skills and offers: the Blueverse.

After looking at what was available, we chose the platform Spatial.io to host our space. It lets us use Unity (a real-time graphics engine) that we know well. That way we can optimize our scene and add interactions.

To build the scene, we worked iteratively, first broadly, then in finer and finer detail. The idea we settled on was an aircraft, standing for our determination to go further, while making people dream.

The model is four times bigger than the real thing and lets the sunlight in. Each Bluevista skill has its own stand, made up of different elements: a poster, a 3D model and a video to discover.
